In a USA Today article published Wednesday, Edward C. Baig writes that Target will begin offering coupons through mobile devices on Wednesday.

Mobile users can opt-in to Target's coupon program by texting the store or signing up on Target.com. Shoppers will then receive messages from Target with various offers. All offers are tied to a single bar code which is scanned at the point of checkout.

There's no telling how much savings Target will offer. Target rarely offers deep discounts on merchandise because their prices are already highly competitive. However, they did launch Target Daily Deals in 2009 as their first entry into the world of once-a-day deals.
